CHIBA PLANT OPERATION STATUS RELATED TO TOHOKU PACIFIC EARTHQUAKE

At our Chiba Plant, located 50km east of Tokyo and around 300km from the area devastated by the earthquake and tsunami on the pacific coast of Northeast region, all facilities exercised an emergency shutdown immediately after the first wave of the quake on March 11. No major damages are observed at production facilities and none of our employees and sub-contractors suffered injuries. A series of safety assessment of the production facilities are underway in order to resume commercial production as early as possible.

Our Yokkaichi Plant located near Nagoya, central Japan, was not affected by the quake and suffered no damage. Its operations have been normal.

We would like to express thankfulness to supports and aids offered by international communities to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
